A business consulting prospect and I were talking the other day about his horse business and the frustration he was feeling with his lack of progress.

After listening to his story for a few minutes, I could tell that the Nodanuffs Gang had ridden in and taken over his business. No, the Nodanuffs Gang is not part of the Russian mafia; let me explain what I mean.

Most small business owners, especially professional horsemen, are robbed of success in the growth of their businesses by the three villains who ride in a gang known as the “Three Not Enoughs.” These hombres represent the three things that hamper small business owners the most:

  1. Not enough time.
  2. Not enough money.
  3. Not enough of the right people.

Not Enough Time-

The possibilities are endless for ways to spend your working day. The clock reminds us daily that our supply of time is not endless. If we let them, time robbers slip into our lives and steal precious hours from us each day. The solution to eliminating time robbers is learning how to say no to doing things that aren’t important to your business or your personal life.

It takes courage to start saying no, but the habit will form once you start to see the benefits of being focused on the things that are most important to you.

Not Enough Money-

Having enough money means that you are in a financial position to do the things you want to do when you want to do them. If the not enough money villain has been troubling you, is it time to:

  1. Raise prices?
  2. Dump the non-profitable activities of your business?
  3. Actively prospect for your ideal customer?

Not Enough of the Right People-

You are very good at what you do, but you are exhausted dealing with some of your employee’s poor work habits. Or worse yet, a key employee has left your business and her absence has left a large gap in your support team.

Every successful business owner developed a support team of traditional employees and/or contract specialists to do the things that he or she had no time to do, didn’t like to do or didn’t know how to do. Having all of the support positions filled with top quality people in your business is essential for success and keeping the Nodanuff Gang out of your life.

It seems simple doesn’t it? When your business delivers these three things, consider your business a success:

  • Enough time
  • Enough money
  • Enough people
  • Enough said.
