When agriculture was making the transition from horses as the primary farm power unit to tractors, leather straps and wood were replaced with steel angle and channel iron to bolt and attach farm tools like planters, plows and pickers.

Eventually, every farm tool and implement manufacturer and tractor maker had a “system” to mount or attach to the tractor. Often, the process was time consuming, involved heavy lifting and precise alignment.

Grunting, short tempers and mashed fingers accompanied the attach and detach process. Just ask Grandpa what it was like to attach a sickle bar mower to the old International.

Farmers were frustrated since implements did not fit on all tractors without a special adaptation kit.

Harry Ferguson saw the need way back in 1926 for a universal attachment system for implements and patented the three point hitch system. It wasn’t until the 1960’s that agreement for the standards for three point hitch came about and as a result, implements are built to specs for three point hitch classes to fit every tractor.

No doubt you use three point hitch attachment for implements on your farm or ranch. You snap lynch pins on two lifting arms and a “top link” and away you go.

It’s as easy as 1-2-3.

Think about how business leaders use simplicity like 1-2-3 in making a sale:

  1. Steve Jobs and iPod touch screens
  2. Infomercial legend Ron Popeil tells us to “set it and forget it” with his show time rotisserie
  3. Multi-generational cake mix queen Betty Crocker has us add egg, milk and bake.

Are you as easy as 1-2-3 to do business with?

Do you attract students for your lesson business with an introductory evaluation lesson in which they:

  2. Mount up
  3. Sign up

Is your training business attracting customers by:

  3.  Pamper

Your business will close more sales when you create your own 3 point hitch system to make it easy for prospects to say yes.
